The following events will take place later this term:

Monday 8th Week (14 June)
What is the Maritime and Shipping Industry?
Location: Lecture Room 6, New College, Holywell Street, Oxford.
Time: 7:15pm

Mr Philip Parry, CEO of Spinnaker, will be presenting and answering questions on the recent devlopments and the plethora of opportunities in the shipping industry for Oxford students. Spinnaker recruits most notably in commercial operations (including trading and shipbroking), technical operations (including consultancy) and professional services (including legal, insurance, finance, banking, sales and marketing). This promises to be a very valuable discussion for anyone who is interested, or feels they could be, in this industry. Food and drink will be provided.

Thursday 8th Week (17 June)
President of Asian Development Bank, Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda
Location: Nelson Mandela Theatre, Said Business School, Park End Street, Oxford

On behalf of our friends at the Oxford University Asia-Pacific Society, we would like to cordially invite all our members to attend a talk by Mr Haruhiko Kuroda, a very high-profile speaker.

Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda is the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Chairperson of ADB's Board of Directors. He was elected President by ADB's Board of Governors in November 2004 and was reelected in November 2006 for a new five-year term. Before joining ADB, Mr. Kuroda was Special Advisor to the Cabinet of Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and a professor at the Graduate School of Economics at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. Mr. Kuroda holds a BA in Law from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Oxford.

He will be speaking on the state of the global economy. The talk will be followed by a 20 min Q&A session.
